Horse Meat Investigation, Switzerland 1/7/13-1/8/13

Animals’ Angels conducted an investigation at several Swiss grocery stores, butcher shops and distributors to check labeling and origin of the meat.  Horse meat was readily available in many of the stores visited, investigators found the meat in form of steaks, roasts or sausage.  The fresh, chilled cuts of horsemeat were labeled with country of origin information, as well as the location where the meat was processed and packaged.  The majority of the meat found was of Canadian origin and had been packaged in Switzerland.
